Player Profile: Josh Hamilton

Josh Hamilton has worn some different colorways with his Franklin Carbon Fibre batting gloves, and he swings a Lousville Slugger M9 I13 bat.

Update: 5.8.12 (yes, the same night he goes deep 4 times)

Bat – Louisville Slugger M9 I13 (just added, available online in ash and maple, just not M9)

Batting Gloves – Franklin Carbon Fibre II (same with more colorways, available, just not in his colorways)

Cleats – Nike Huarache 2k4 (no change, available, not in his colorway)

Thumb Hitting Aid – “Pro Hitter” (just added, available online)

Here’s some info on why many players use this hitting aid.  I see it on a lot of guys’ thumbs.

NOTE: HAMILTON’S FIELDING GEAR NEEDED NO CHANGE, SO I WON’T WASTE ANY TIME ON IT AND WILL MOVE RIGHT ON DOWN THE LIST.  MUCH MORE TO COME THIS WEEK.

Hamilton calls his A2000 JH32-GM his “puppy.”

We all know the intimate relationship we have with our gloves.  It, literally, is an extension of yourself, so there’s no wonder why ballplayers have such an affection for their glove.  Josh Hamilton is no different.  These interviews with Josh are just too good not to share:

Josh’s “puppy” is a Wilson A2000 JH32-GM model, and like a growing puppy, it’s got a heck of an appetite.  Hamilton is what scouts call 5-tool.  Rarely does a player come along with his type of power that can patrol center field like Hamilton can.  He also has a rifle for an arm (he threw 95 mph off the mound in high school) and his mechanics from the outfield are flawless (as seen in the video above).

On those sweltering summer days in Arlington, Texas, Hamilton shields the glare with a pair of white Kaenon Hard Kore sunglasses.

He might rotate that in, but lately we’ve seen the Louisville Slugger. We’re in the process of updating everybody. Thanks for checking the site out.

That video is from June 2011. Those are the Oakley Flak Jacket style if you are interested in the ones in the video. The sunglasses he wears for games are the Kaenon Hard Kore that you see in the feature.

The brand is EBI but info on the company or the guard were very obscure so I didn’t add it to the profile.

  4. thanks. also, any take on what brand of wrist tape josh uses?

He, like most players, uses self stick tape. It only sticks to its self, not to skin. I’ve been using it for years because I’m allergic to the adhesives they use on tape, band aids, etc. You can buy it at Dicks or other “higher end” sporting good stores. Cramer make some as well. Walgreens will carry it but its flesh tone, probably not what you are looking for. Hope this helps.

Hamilton has an exclusive bat now with Louisville Slugger. The model number is H359 which was his batting average the year he won the AL MVP is what I was told. His name is also his signture instead of block letters. This bat is new to just this year.

OK, and did someone there tell you? I’m looking for your source–a link, a website, etc–because I’m pretty confident his bat is an I13 and if it isn’t I’d want to see where you heard this before I posted it. Thanks again.

Yes the bat is an I13 but they changed the model number to H359 just for his exclusive bat. On the texas rangers shop website they are now offering a replica of the bat I am talking about.
